Student visit July 2011

Seven students from Burnside Business and Enterprise College visited GorGor school and Ndania Special home during a week long stay in Kenya July 2011.  Along with staff they established teaching of all the students of GorGor on ICT using the donated laptops sent via the container earlier in the year. 

Students taught basic ICT skills and word processing.  Staff taught teachers from GorGor how to use technology to deliver more interactive lessons.  Students and staff also used the Internet, Twitter and Skype to keep in contact with home.  Using Skype in the future we are hoping to deliver joint lessons in Science and Geography. 

Burnside sixth formers also taught in the local primary school and special school.  The community of GorGor and Ndania benefited greatly from the visit -  the students and staff had an experience they are unlikely ever to forget.  Hopefully the students will all return to work in the school in the future.
