Container Arrives 2011

To Sir with Love....... From our school to yours  --  was the headline in th Evening Chronicle on March 21st 2011.  This article re told the story of all the work done by Beacon Hill and Burnside Schools supported by local churches, local businesses and primary schools in Wallsend.  A 20foot shipping container packed with over 3000 books, bikes, laptops, disability equipment, sports equipment, and gift tins for all the students in GorGor secondary school and Ndania Special Home left Burnside in August 2010.  After a mammoth 8,000 mile journey,  delays in port, problems with documentation, discussion with the Kenya High Commission, Kenyan Treasury Ministry the goods were released and arrived safely at their destinations.

Mathew Korir, Head Teacher at GorGor Secondary school said " It has been a wonderful week of celebration for us.  We thank all who took part in the campaign, either directly or indirectly, because the sacrifice and great effort they made brought smiles to our faces. 

Special Thanks goes to the staff and students at Burnside Business and Enterprise College, Mr Welch, All the staff and students at Beacon Hill Special School,  Wallsend Primary schools,  Marie Rooney and all others who were involved in the campaign.
